July 14-17
Icon 2010
illustrators convention
ICON6
me and maria piscopo i felt like we were the only LCADers at ICON. i took many pictures and made lots of friends.
i sketched the people presenting the pannels and showed them my sketches. they gave me thier email addresses and autographs. hah i learned that i should price my pieces to how i feel i am worth and not the amount that would sell me cheap. i listened to my mom too much lol.
im going to be putting the sketches and pics in my website hopefully by tuesday.
i hope to stay in contact with soo jin shes art director of editorial magazines. i told her that i loved doing editorial cartoons so i hope to get a chance at it.
and there was another pannelist from the bay area that does activist art. i told him about some of my works and heh i hope i can get going on this too.
hah so i connected with 2 organizations. i hope things turn out for that one
oh and you know wayne white? the guy who did the puppet and voice of randy from pee wee herman? hahahaha he was soo col he played the banjo and everything. his presentation was hilarious and hes got a sense of humor that makes me think of me. hahah in fact he inspired me to draw cartoons of everyone.
i gotta show you! cause theres a funny story about the autograph i got from him. lol
i was lucky that i stayed at a friends house for free there. and it was walking distance.basicaly in alhambra.
as for other things during icon the friend that i was staying with works for nbc. so i took pictures and asked the presenters if she can use them in her article. i collecte thier email addresses so she will send them the link to the article.
the first day i made friends immediately from the soccer tournament. i played in goal first and then stunk. then played out for a while. but at the very end when i played in goal i did a very awesome job. hahah i felt like the rookie :: jimmy howard from the detroit redwings;;
then there was a party i went to . it was at the art center of pasadena out on the roof top. they had a mural composed of electric tape.;; i forget the artist;; but after the party the people gave out paper so that the attendees can take pieces of the art work back with them.
the second day there were lots of workshops that you had to pay to get into. i cant afford that tho. i did go to the adobe workshop and they gave samples of the cs5. plus showed the new features and theres a really cool program for flash so you dont ahve to do all that action script that they were showing us how to use.it was called adobe flash catalyst.
haha he made it look sooo simple and then when i went around to it. i was like WHAHHHHT? LOL
they had a party like every night.
i think that night they had a opening party and some panellists. in between some pannels were little puppet skits about illustrators and art directors.
third and 4rth day were mostly panels day. lots of people around the world at this event htats for sure.
after i scann and send the pictures and stuff. im going to also scan the program and tell my friend from nbc some extra stuff i learned a bit . just a basic nut in the shell type of thing.
i drew a cute comic about when i came to that friends house every night this kid would kinda drive me nuts.
ICON 6 July 14-17 2010
The picture above is Wayne White. Creator and voice of "Randy" from Pee Wee Herman. Anyways after his presentation at ICON i asked if any girl had asked him to sign her boobs.
he said "no"
i then asked him " can you sign my book?"
he said " sure! where do you want me to put it".
"the boobs" i replied lol
so he drew the rest of the boobs in.
